Deployed iOS application
Privacy Policy for NetToolkit
Effective date: October 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how NetToolkit handles information when you use the NetToolkit iOS app. NetToolkit provides network diagnostics such as local network scanning, ping, traceroute, DNS lookup, Whois/RDAP lookup, port scanning, IP calculations, MAC vendor lookup, speed testing, network information, local history, and export tools. The free version may show banner ads, and the app may offer an optional Remove Ads purchase.
Data Collection
NetToolkit does not require an account and does not ask for your name or email address inside the app. The app does not operate a custom developer server for storing your scan history, device labels, notes, favorites, settings, or exported reports.
Local App Data
NetToolkit may store app preferences, selected language, saved history, favorites, custom device names, notes, saved reports, and purchase entitlement state locally on your iPhone. This data is used to operate app features on your device. You can delete local app data by deleting the app from your device.
Local Network Access
NetToolkit requests Local Network access to discover and communicate with devices on the network you are using. Local scans may send normal network diagnostic traffic such as address probes, TCP connection attempts, DNS or name queries, Bonjour/mDNS, LLMNR, NetBIOS, SSDP/UPnP, and Wake on LAN packets depending on the tool you run. Results are shown in the app and may be saved locally if history saving is enabled.
Wi-Fi Name and Location Permission
iOS requires location permission before an app can read the current Wi-Fi network name. NetToolkit uses this permission only to show the Wi-Fi name in the app. NetToolkit does not use this permission to track your physical location.
Internet Services Used By Tools
Some NetToolkit features contact third-party internet services or network hosts to produce results. Speed testing uses Cloudflare test endpoints. External IP lookup may use ipify. IP geolocation and ASN information may use ipinfo.io. Domain registration lookups may contact Whois servers and rdap.org. DNS, ping, traceroute, port scan, TCP/UDP exchange, and lookup tools contact the hosts, ports, and DNS servers you choose or the system resolver configured on your device.
Private local network addresses are not sent to geolocation services. If you enter a public host, domain, IP address, server, or token into a tool, that information may be sent to the relevant network service as required for that tool to work.
Advertising
The free version of NetToolkit may use Google Mobile Ads to show banner ads. Google Mobile Ads may process device identifiers, advertising identifiers when available, IP address, approximate location, app interaction data, diagnostics, and related advertising data according to Google's advertising and privacy practices.
Tracking Permission
On supported iOS versions, NetToolkit may request App Tracking Transparency permission before advertising services use tracking identifiers for free users. If you deny tracking, ads may still be shown with limited or non-personalized behavior depending on platform and provider rules. Users who purchase or restore Remove Ads do not load NetToolkit's in-app banner ad placements.
Purchases
NetToolkit may offer an optional Remove Ads in-app purchase. Purchases and restore actions are handled by Apple StoreKit and the App Store. We do not receive your payment-card information. The app may use App Store entitlement information to determine whether ad-free access is active.
Analytics and Crash Reporting
NetToolkit does not include a separate analytics SDK or crash reporting SDK controlled by us. Advertising and purchase providers may process data as described in their own policies and platform documentation.
Exports and Sharing
When you export or share reports, text, JSON, CSV, or PDF files, the destination you choose in the iOS share sheet may receive that content. Review the destination app or service before sharing network details.
Children's Privacy
NetToolkit is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data Retention
We do not retain NetToolkit account data because no account is required and we do not operate a custom user database for the app. Local app data remains on your device according to iOS behavior until you delete it, clear app data where available, or delete the app. Advertising and purchase providers may retain data according to their own retention practices.
Your Privacy Choices
You can revoke Local Network, Location, and Tracking permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some NetToolkit features may not work or may show less detail when related permissions are disabled. You can disable automatic history saving inside the app settings. You can use Restore Purchases in the app when reinstalling or moving to another device with the same App Store account.
Responsible Use
Network diagnostics can reveal technical details about devices and services. Use NetToolkit only on networks and hosts you own, administer, or have permission to test. Some networks may block or rate-limit diagnostic traffic.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if NetToolkit's features or data practices change. Any updated policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
